3.56% of all classes are closed in France due to Covid-19. The government plans to lighten the protocol on the return of vacs

The epidemic is definitely breaking all records.

After the number of contaminations, it is the number of class closures which also breaks the ceiling.

According to the latest update, 18,786 classes are currently closed due to Covid-19 cases, which represents 3.56% of all classes.

A figure higher than that of last week, which amounted to 14,380 and already represented a record.

In addition, 152 school structures are closed in the country, the vast majority of nursery or primary schools.

463,197 students (3.79%) tested positive during the week, a figure which could be underestimated since it is based on voluntary declarations.

On the educational staff side, 30,774 people contracted Covid-19, which represents 2.56% of the total staff.

A relaxation of the protocol after the holidays

Prime Minister Jean Castex announced Thursday evening during a press conference "to consider" a relaxation of the health protocol for schools upon return from the February holidays.

“We will be able to consider, on the return from the February school holidays, a reduction in the health protocol” within schools, in terms of wearing a mask or the tests to be carried out, indicated the Prime Minister.

The last zone holiday return date is March 7th.

During the day, striking teachers marched on this new day of action to protest against the management of the Covid-19 health crisis at school.

After a very well-attended mobilization on January 13, education staff responded little to the strike call.

The ministry counted only 1.15% of first degree teachers (kindergarten and elementary) and 2.18% in the second degree (college and high school).

Seven days earlier, they were more than 38% in the first degree and nearly 24% in the secondary, still according to the Ministry of Education.

Nearly 78,000 people had marched in France at the call of all the unions, then indicated the Ministry of the Interior.
