(ANSA) - ROME, JANUARY 21 - "I waited two years, but now it's time for Short Films to see the light". Giusy Ferreri, five years after "Girotondo", is ready to get back into the game, like always amafare, with a new sound, new ideas, new ideas. "The record was ready for a long time, but there was a pandemic, everything stopped and then I wanted to wait for better times even to be able to present it live. It's been a year, it's been two ... now, even if the situation it's not what we were hoping for, I decided to publish it because I want to hear new things ".
Short films, which will be released on February 18 by Columbia-SonyMusic, immediately after participating in the Sanremo festival with the song Miele, is his sixth album of unreleased tracks. "The title - explains the singer - comes from my concerts. Each song I present is a small musical journey, which contains concepts, situations, moods with different flavors and atmospheres. In short, I wanted a record that sounded like myilives".
It is also thanks to Short Films that Giusy Ferreri returned to the Sanremo festival. "I don't like to participate so much in making it, without there being a project behind me", explains the artist who has relied on well-established workmates. Ilbrano, in fact, is written by Federica Abbate, Davide Petrella and the inevitable Takagi and Ketra, creators of Amore and Capoeira, Jambo, Shimmy Shimmy who crowned her as the queen of the summer hits. "The two of them allowed me to go beyond my melancholy and introspective venom. But for this song I asked to try to see myself in a different, more wintery dimension. A piece more like a mountain hut than a kiosk by the sea".
The result is a more acoustic, slightly folk piece with a retro flavor.
"To surprise as I always did when something was expected from me and I went in another direction".
On the evening of the covers, accompanied by Andy dei Bluvertigo, Giusy Ferreri will interpret "I will live (Without you)", by Lucio Battisti.
"A very intense piece, one of the most beautiful and expressive in the repertoire of Italian music".
