(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, JAN 21 - The European Union has begun to re-establish a "minimal presence" in Kabul to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid in Afghanistan.
"Our presence in Kabul should in no way be seen as an acknowledgment" by the Taliban government, foreign affairs spokesman Peter Stano said in a statement.
"This was also clearly communicated to the defacto authorities," he added.
In light of the serious humanitarian crisis that Afghanistan is facing, the EU has recently launched projects worth 268.3 million euros, stepping up vital support for the Afghan population.
