Accidents occurred on numerous roads in Germany on Thursday due to wintry conditions.
The police in Thuringia reported a total of 92 traffic accidents with eleven injuries for the period from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. alone.
A 19-year-old man died near Paderborn
when his car slipped onto the oncoming lane due to slippery conditions and collided with an oncoming car.
A two-year-old girl in the back seat of the other accident car suffered "severe injuries", according to the police.
At Burgdorf
in Lower Saxony, a vehicle also collided with an oncoming car due to ice.
The driver suffered life-threatening injuries.
A mother and her son in the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.
Two articulated lorries collided
on Autobahn 38 between Heiligenstadt and Arenshausen in
Thuringia
. A van drove up, another semitrailer drove into the central barrier while evading. One driver was slightly injured and another driver was seriously injured, police said. There was also property damage of 95,000 euros. The freeway had to be closed in both directions.
Two trucks crashed in the ice near Merzdorf in Brandenburg on Thursday

According to the police, a truck had spun on the road and had an accident.
A second truck was involved in the accident and had mirror damage, a spokesman for the situation center said.
When approaching these trucks, a fire truck then skidded on a “mirror-smooth” road and rolled over.
According to initial information, three occupants were injured.
One of them was flown to a clinic by helicopter, the spokesman said.
Details on the exact process and the severity of the injuries are not yet available.
In the area of the police headquarters in
Neubrandenburg
, according to the report, 15 accidents with five people, some seriously injured, occurred in the afternoon because of the snow and the slippery roads.
