There are still more Covid-19 positive people in hospital as the government still plans to lift restrictions on

“There are reasons to be optimistic”, wanted to reassure Gabriel Attal, this Sunday.

And the government spokesperson to go even further: "The dates will be kept" as to the lifting of health restrictions, announced Thursday by Prime Minister Jean Castex and the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran.

The executive therefore plans to loosen the screw, even though the epidemic figures are not better.

Nor those in the hospital.

In the hospital, the pressure is always stronger.

28,838 patients are hospitalized this Sunday, according to figures from Public Health France.

If this figure corresponds to people positive for Covid-19 and in hospital, it is not however that corresponding to the number of people hospitalized because of the virus.

There were 28,515 on Saturday and 24,887 last Sunday.

1,094 new admissions have been recorded in the past 24 hours, compared to 1,029 last Sunday.

Fewer critical care patients

Despite a worsening situation in conventional care, the situation is stable in French critical care services (resuscitation, continuous monitoring and intensive care).

3,760 patients are hospitalized there this Sunday, against 3,756 on Saturday and 3,852 last Sunday.

On Monday, up to 3,913 patients were recorded simultaneously in these departments, a few patients near the record for this epidemic wave (3,939 on January 14).

143 patients have been admitted there in the past 24 hours, compared to 119 last Sunday.

115 deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours.

Since the start of the pandemic, at least 101,330 people have died of Covid-19 in France in hospital.

On Saturday, 167 deaths were recorded in 24 hours, 98 last Sunday over the same period.

Since the start of the vaccination campaign in France, 53,813,666 people have received at least one injection (i.e. 79.8% of the total population) and 52,479,166 people now have a complete vaccination schedule (i.e. 77.8% of the total population), reports this Sunday the General Directorate of Health.

Since the start of the booster campaign, 33,830,125 people have received a booster dose.
