Since January 1, 2022, the required rates for child support in the new so-called Düsseldorf table have been increased slightly.

How much money does that mean?

According to the “Düsseldorf Table”, children of separation are entitled to a little more maintenance for the new year.

However, in many cases the increase is less than one percent, as the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court announced on December 13th.

New "Düsseldorf Table": More minimum maintenance from January 1, 2022

From January 2022,

the

minimum maintenance

for children from one to five years will be 396 euros per month, an increase of three euros

.

For children from six to eleven it is 455 euros and four euros more.

For children from 12 to 17 years it is five euros more (533 euros).

The

maintenance

is calculated using the table according to the

income classes of the maintenance

debtor.

The

requirement rate

for students who do not live with their parents or one of their parents remains unchanged compared to 2021 at 860 euros.

The table has also been extended up to an

income limit

of 11,000 euros per month.

Düsseldorf table - not a law, but a guideline

The "Düsseldorf Table" is the guideline for all higher regional courts in Germany for determining and assessing child support.

It has been published by the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court since 1979.

The Maintenance Commission of the German Family Court Day is also involved in its creation.

Deductibles remain unchanged

As a rule, half of the

child benefit*

is to be offset against the maintenance requirement for underage children and in full for adult children.

The deductibles, i.e. the minimum that must be paid to the maintenance debtor, will remain unchanged in 2022.

If the housing costs are higher than the estimated one, the deductible can be increased in individual cases.
