French fashion designer Thierry Mugler has died at the age of 73. This was published last night (Sunday) in the official Facebook account of the renowned designer.

The statement said Mugler died in "natural circumstances".

His breakthrough in the fashion world occurred in 1973, when he released his own fashion line, "Café de Paris".

Mugler was born in Strasbourg and in his youth studied dance.

He is best known for his Power dressing style - a style of clothing that aims to convey power in women, and has been adopted in the business and political world, among others.

Among other things, the style of dress includes the familiar shoulder pads from the 80s.

"He was timeless and ahead of his time," supermodel Jerry Hall, the presenter of Mugler's touching perfume, Angel, told the New York Times.

Although Mugler left the fashion house that bore his name in 2002, he did not stop working in the field.

He is responsible for, among other things, the look of many singers including Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Cardi Bey.

Mugler had a special bond with the LGBT community, from which he also drew inspiration for his designs. In addition, he made sure to incorporate transgender models into his fashion shows as early as the 1980s, and collaborated with transgender artists.

Mugler's agent, Jean-Baptiste Rogo, said only recently that the designer was about to announce new collaborations.
