A topic that also affects us in real life.
The highly competitive housing market in Germany.
But in the thriller "Faule Mieten" by Sonja Rudorf, some even walk over dead bodies.
An old villa, a murder and a tight-knit household - that's what Sonja Rudorf's novel is about.
But what do an heir and a real estate company have to do with the whole thing?
The psychologist Jona Hagen comes close to the secrets of the villa and its residents.
Sonja Rudorf “Lazy Rents”: About the book
The Frankfurt housing market is a battle zone. When Jona Hagen finds a small attic in a villa, she can hardly believe her luck. But the calm is deceptive. Her previous tenant, a real estate agent, was brutally murdered in nearby Sinai Park, and her boyfriend of all people is the lead investigator. While the first blossoms herald spring in Frankfurt, thick clouds gather in Jona's life. A house is not a home. Ellen Beetz also has to experience this firsthand. Once a geriatric nurse, she has now dedicated herself to caring for the old mansion in which she lives. Not an easy task with these tenants. When the shy bank clerk from the 1st floor suddenly confesses to murder, Ellen gets caught up in a maelstrom of investigations alongside Jona. Does the pensioner in a wheelchair really suffer from dementia?does the wine merchant only live for his little shop, are the philosophy student's views on guilt purely philosophical in nature? And how did the landlady come to be the main heiress in the first place? (blurb)
Sonja Rudorf "Lazy rents": language and structure
The book is very easy to read.
The characters are interesting and varied.
There are a few clichés thrown in here and there, but I think that was intentional on the part of the author.
However, this has no effect on the reading pleasure.
More value was placed on the interpersonal levels, the tension only increases towards the end.
Sonja Rudorf "Lazy rents": My conclusion
When reading "Faule Mieten" I often had the feeling that one or the other character was properly shaken up.
The fact that it is not only difficult to find suitable living space in Frankfurt* makes the story interesting outside of Frankfurt as well.
It was a relaxed novel nonetheless.
If you don't like a lot of excitement and still like reading crime fiction, you've come to the right place.
You have all the peace you need to take on the riddle of the flat-sharing community and speculate.
Perfect for a rainy day on the sofa.
