The British loosen the screw.

The British government announced on Monday the end of compulsory Covid-19 screening for fully vaccinated travelers arriving in England, without giving an effective date.

“What we are doing for travel is to show that this country is open for business, open to travellers”, explained Prime Minister Boris Johnson, confirming this change intended “that people who arrive do not have more to pass tests (…) if they have been doubly vaccinated”.

Until now, fully vaccinated travelers had to book in advance a test (antigen or PCR) to be carried out after their arrival, while a pre-departure test and two PCR tests were imposed on travelers who were not fully vaccinated, as well as a ten-day isolation.

Soon end of the isolation period for positive cases

Boris Johnson's decision comes in a context where the bosses of major airlines such as British Airways, easyJet or Ryanair had recently asked the government to end restrictions on international travel, "at a minimum" for fully vaccinated travelers.

While the UK has been heavily affected by the Omicron variant, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced last week the lifting of the last restrictions in England, as well as the end of the health pass for certain large gatherings, and the end of the isolation period for positive cases in March.
