The heavy snowfall that hit Istanbul since the weekend caused the interruption of all flight operations at the major city airport until 6pm local time.
This was reported by various Turkish media while the national airline Turkish Airlines announced the cancellation of 52 scheduled flights today from Istanbul airport.
The snowstorm had already created inconvenience in transport in recent days and the two main motorway links between the largest Turkish city and the capital Ankara were closed from yesterday evening until late morning today.
Forecasts estimate that heavy snow will continue until Wednesday.

In the late afternoon, Turkish Airlines announced that all scheduled flights from Istanbul Airport were canceled due to heavy snow.
According to a statement, flight operations should resume from 4 tomorrow morning.
