The Strega Award 2022 is underway, in the Maraini and Scurati Board of Directors

The 2022 edition of the Strega Prize starts: from 1 February to 1 March the Amici della Domenica, the historical nucleus of the jury, will be able to report, with the author's consent, a work of fiction published between 1 March 2021 and on February 28, 2022. (ANSA)


(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 24 - The 2022 edition of the PremioStrega starts: from 1 February to 1 March the Amici della Domenica, the historical nucleus of the jury, will be able to report, with the consent of the author, a work of fiction published between 1 March 2021 and 28 February 2022. Each work can receive only one report which must be sent together with a brief critical judgment.


    Other works identified by the Steering Committee, which will have the task of selecting the twelve titles admitted to compete, may be added to the proposals of the Friends.


   And starting from 2022, DaciaMaraini (Premio Strega 1999) and Antonio Scurati (Premio Strega2019) join the Board, thanks to which "the authority of the Committee is further strengthened" explains a note from the Award. Maraini and Scurati are added to the members Pietro Abate, Giuseppe D'Avino, Valeria Della Valle, Ernesto Ferrero, Alberto Foschini, Paolo Giordano, Melania G. Mazzucco (president), Gabriele Pedullà, StefanoPetrocchi, Marino Sinibaldi and Giovanni Solimine. Helena Janeczek (Premio Strega 2018) is released.


   The Bellonci Foundation and the Strega Alberti Benevento company, promoters of the Award, "thank Helena Janeczek for the work she has done in the Board of Directors over the years and wish her every luck for her collaboration with the Feltrinelli publishing house".


   The image that will accompany the seventy-sixth edition will be created by Olimpia Zagnoli, an internationally renowned artist, as part of a project born on the occasion of the seventieth Strega Prize which brought some of the best Italian illustrators - Manuele Fior, Franco Matticchio, Riccardo Guasco, Alessandro Baronciani , Emiliano Ponzi and Lorenzo Mattotti - to imagine new encounters between literature and the Witch starting from the drawing made by Mino Maccari in 1947 on the first urn of the Prize.
