If Prince Andrew, in the midst of a media storm, has been removed from his military duties, in particular that of colonel, a regiment of the British army has submitted a request concerning his future replacement – or rather, his future replacement.
The
New York Times
thus revealed, on Sunday January 23, that Kate Middleton had been cited as the first choice by the Grenadier Guards.
The latter constitute one of the oldest and most emblematic regiments of the British army.
The eventual decision to appoint Kate Middleton to replace the Duke of York would be historic, as it would make the Duchess of Cambridge the second female colonel appointed in 366 years.

"She never seems to be wrong"
According to the American daily, a senior official of the Grenadier Guards said anonymously: “If we are to believe the unofficial polls carried out in the ranks, the Grenadiers would all like it to be Kate.
We all admire the way she fitted in and behaved, she never seems to be wrong."
Before adding: "She really invests in everything she does and we want someone who will really engage with us."
To date, it is Queen Elizabeth II who, by default, has taken over the role of Prince Andrew.

Many members of the royal family hold military honors and often serve in the British military themselves.
Thus, Princes Philip, Charles and William all served in the military and also received honours.
Just like Prince Harry, who was however ordered to renounce his military honors after leaving his royal duties and moving to the United States with his family.
The appointment of Kate Middleton as female colonel would sign a real turning point in favor of modernity, because it would mean that women from the Windsor clan can be entrusted with more important functions.
The decision will be made and announced next week.
