(ANSA-AFP) - GENEVA, JANUARY 24 - "It is dangerous to assume that Omicron will be the last variant or to talk about the end of the game", since currently in the world the conditions for the emergence of other Covid mutations are "ideal".
WHO director general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a press conference warning that the possibility of a new variant "more transmissible and more lethal" is "very real".
The statement is in contradiction with what was declared yesterday by the director of the Agency's office for Europe according to which it is "plausible" that with Omicron at least the Old Continent "is moving towards the end of the pandemic".
