According to its own information, the Vorpommern-Greifswald district will not enforce the compulsory vaccination for employees of nursing homes and hospitals planned for mid-March.

You can see that “with all the other corona-related measures that we have been taking for two years, the health department and also large parts of the administration are completely busy,” said district spokesman Achim Froitzheim on Tuesday evening of the dpa.

"We are therefore unable to monitor and enforce this facility-related vaccination requirement."

“If tasks are now added on top, we simply can no longer do them.” The district is not entitled to assess the corresponding vaccination requirement with a view to a possible shortage of nursing staff.

»That has to be clarified at federal and state level.«

The “North Kurier” had previously reported. Froitzheim had told the newspaper that the facilities affected by the vaccination requirement assumed that the proportion of unvaccinated staff was “in the order of around 20 percent”. However, he does not have official figures.

Statements by the deputy district administrator from Bautzen in Saxony had previously caused a stir.

Udo Witschas (CDU) announced on Monday evening that the district in East Saxony did not want to implement the job-related vaccination requirement for nurses and hospital staff from mid-March.

"If you ask me what the health department of the district of Bautzen will do from March 16th, then we, our health department, will not ban our employees in the district of Bautzen in nursing and in the medical field," said Witschas in front of participants in a Corona demonstration in Bautzen.

A video of it is now circulating in the channels of the right-wing extremist »Free Saxony«.

The district of Bautzen is rowing back

The district of Bautzen made it clear on Tuesday that the job-related vaccination requirement for nurses and hospital staff would also apply there.

With a view to entries in the social media, the state directorate of Saxony asked that Witscha's statements be classified, the district office announced on Tuesday.

The compulsory vaccination decided by the Bundestag will be implemented - however, the security of supply in clinics, homes and in the outpatient care service is the top priority.
