British Prime Minister Boris Johnson believes Scotland Yard's decision to open a preliminary investigation into the so-called Partygate scandal
of the Downing Street gatherings between 2020 and 2021 is "entirely right" in suspected violation of the anti-Covid rules then in force, unveiled at delayed outbreak in the media.
A spokesman for Downing Street said, adding that
the premier, his staff and the Tory government intend to "cooperate fully"
.
The spokesman did not, however, evoke any hypothesis of steps backwards on the part of Johnson, making it clear that for the moment he appears determined to try to resist again.
