Gin Tonic is a real bar classic that is becoming more and more popular thanks to more and more small distilleries from Germany.
This belongs in the cult drink.
Höxter – In addition to gin and tonic, the finest herbs and often vegetables and fruit such as cucumbers, berries or lemon slices also belong in the classic long drink.
But how does a gin and tonic taste like a garden without this green decoration?
A beverage manufacturer in North Rhine-Westphalia asked itself this question on the occasion of the upcoming State Garden Show in 2023.
State garden show as a drink: New gin for all garden fans
Even if there is still a little time until 2023, the preparations for the State Garden Show are in full swing.
But in addition to planning floral art, gardens and everything to do with landscape architecture, physical well-being also needs to be taken care of.
That's why the Höxter-based company, beverages Waldhoff, created a gin with particularly botanical aromas for this event: In addition to juniper berries, you should also be able to taste cucumber and basil.
Overall, a fresher and bitter-sharp taste was aimed at than is the case with other types of gin, as reported by 24garten.de.
State Garden Show as a drink: Quick recipe
But if you don't want to wait until next year, you can already conjure up a gin and tonic that tastes like a garden.
You need the following ingredients for two glasses:
Eight to ten centilitres of gin
Approx. 400 milliliters of a neutral tonic
Fresh herbs like mint, basil, rosemary or sage
A cucumber
Optional: juniper or pepper berries
ice cubes
Pour the liquid ingredients into two glasses fitted with ice cubes and decorate the drink with herbs and cucumber slices as desired.
Garden Gin: Non-Alcoholic Spirits
Anyone who doesn't like alcohol can also use non-alcoholic gin.
This now tastes really good and is offered by many companies.
For the "mocktail" you can use the recipe above and simply replace the gin with a non-alcoholic version.
If you don't have one on hand, you can simply enjoy the drink as it is.
