(ANSA) - BRASILIA, 25 JAN - The Brazilian Supreme Court (Stf) has started a process to determine whether the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, should be investigated for the delay in starting pediatric vaccination against the coronavirus.
The judge of the STF, Rosa Weber, in fact accepted a complaint presented by the opposition and asked the Public Prosecutor's Office (PGR) to study the possibility of starting an investigation on the head of state.
According to the complainants - the Secretary of Education of the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro, Renan Ferreirinha, the Senator of Cidadania (center-left) Alessando Vieira and the deputy of the Brazilian Socialist Party (Psb, left) Tabata Amaral -Bolsonaro allegedly committed the crime of " prevarication "intentionally delaying the start of vaccination of children between 5 and 11 years, after it had already been authorized by the National Health Supervisory Agency (Anvisa).
So far, according to information from ten of the 27 state health secretaries, 456,101 children in this age group have received the first dose of Pfizer or CoronaVac (the second pediatric vaccine in the meantime approved by Anvisa).
