(ANSA) - NEW YORK, JAN 25 - The Supreme Court of the state of New York rejects the obligation to wear a mask imposed by Governor Kathy Hochul in schools and public places.

According to Judge Thomas Rademaker, the governor does not have the authority to impose such an obligation without the state's legislative green light.

"There is no doubt that each of us hopes that the Covid era will soon end. Even though Governor Hochul's intentions are dictated by what appears to be a willingness to protect the citizens of the state of New York," the mandate cannot be enforced and the governor must turn to "state legislators," says the judge.
