In the case of a fatal attack on a petrol station employee in Idar-Oberstein, Rhineland-Palatinate, after a dispute about the obligation to wear a mask, the Bad Kreuznach public prosecutor's office has brought charges of murder against 49-year-old Mario N.

This was announced by the authority.

She accuses Mann of shooting the 20-year-old employee in September last year.

She also accused him of illegally carrying the murder weapon and illegally possessing another firearm.

The district court of Bad Kreuznach must now decide whether to open the main proceedings.

According to the indictment, N. wanted to shop at the gas station on the day of the crime.

Since he was not wearing a mouth and nose cover, there was said to have been a brief discussion with the employee.

N. left the gas station and returned a good hour and a half later with a mask.

He then pulled down the mask at the checkout, after which there was another brief exchange of words.

Finally, the 49-year-old pulled out a revolver and shot his victim in the head.

The accused confessed to the crime in a first police interrogation, but is now silent.

He is in custody.

As the public prosecutor announced, the “emphatic rejection” of the measures to combat the corona pandemic is said to have been at least “contributory” to the crime.

He should have seen the dead person as partly responsible for the overall situation because he wanted to enforce the mask requirement.

N. had not appeared before the police.
