AIR INDIA

Air India, India's national airline, has been going through quite a few upheavals lately. In 2017, when it was carrying huge debts of about $ 8 billion, it was decided to sell the company, according to a government plan. A few months ago, last October, Air India was finally acquired by the Tata Group, a multinational Indian corporation, for $ 2.4 billion.

Now, as the company prepares itself for takeover, it seeks to reinvent itself, thanks to the current investment. Airport website Simpleflying reports that as part of this revolution, it has been decided that the air crews will present what is known as a "good image". Thus, alongside meticulous uniforms, "grooming colleagues" will be appointed, who will check the body mass index (BMI) of the flight attendants.

It was further reported that the takeover of Air India, by the corporation considered to be the largest in India, is fast approaching results on the ground, and that Air India is eagerly awaiting a better future, under the new leadership.

The plan is to equip newer aircraft, but it will take a long time for these to arrive.

Meanwhile, the airline is looking at more immediate ways to present a tight and aesthetic image.

"Weight is irrelevant to the profession"

Along with examining the BMI index of each and every one of the air crews, their level of grooming and overall appearance will also be carefully examined. An order issued by the company's CEO, Washuda Chandana, states that “air crews who are carefully groomed and dressed, according to uniform regulations and standards, present a positive and professional image of the airline. It is therefore clear that each of the staff members will take care to comply with the uniform regulations.

" He wrote a letter to the company's management, stating: "The time before flights is intended for documenting and scanning safety updates. A stressful BMI test during these times can create disruption and cause safety issues during the flight. "

It is not yet known what exactly the company is trying to locate in the BMI tests, or whether actions will be taken against flight attendants whose body mass is considered high.

As noted in a letter sent by the union, the air crews are primarily intended to be used in safety positions so that their weight is irrelevant to the performance of their work.

It should be noted that Tata Corporation's takeover of Air India took longer than expected, and was delayed for several weeks.

If all goes well, then next Thursday, Air India will be officially transferred to Tata.
