“We want a hotel,” chant dozens of people in a hall at Istanbul airport.

The first European airport, paralyzed since January 24 by heavy snowfall, was shaken by a spontaneous demonstration of exasperated passengers.

Many videos posted on social networks show a compact crowd shouting on the ground floor, while travelers observe the scene leaning on mezzanines on the upper floors.

“Critical situation”, testifies Ali Hamza, a passenger who posted several sequences on his Facebook page.

The cancellation of all flights has left hundreds of people like him unresolved for dozens of hours.

“We have already been there for more than 24 hours, except that we have no information”, relates Selim Kilik, a French passenger.

“We had problems with our luggage, our tickets and to eat, abounds Ugurcan Guller, another stranded traveler, we have been sleeping miserably on the floor since yesterday”.

The airport announced a gradual resumption of air links in the afternoon of January 25.

Several videos show aircraft landing and taxiing on the tarmac.

Airport employees had to work hard to clear the no less than 42 cm of snow that had fallen in recent hours.

These exceptional bad weather also caused the collapse of the roof of a terminal dedicated to cargo ships, without, fortunately, causing any casualties.
