Will we one day see the memorial dedicated to Étienne Dolet, the editor of Rabelais and Marot, burned alive in 1546, take its place in Paris?
Imagined by Anselm Kiefer, the huge stake topped with books - three and a half tons, three meters thirty high - was almost installed on the Place de la Sorbonne, in the 5th arrondissement of Paris.
According to our information, the direction of cultural affairs of Île-de-France finally judged that the installation did not fit into the existing one.
The collective for the memorial, which includes Jean-Noël Jeanneney, former president of the BnF, then suggested installing the work in Place Maubert, where Étienne Dolet was put to death.

Due to works, the collective has set off again in search of another Parisian space - if possible in the same arrondissement.
A prototype of the work has already been produced by the artist, Anselm Kiefer having been touched by this medieval printer whose "heretical" positions cost him his life.
