According to information from the German Press Agency, the musician Boris Pfeiffer, ex-member of In Extremo, died after a demonstration against the Corona policy in Wandlitz near Berlin.

The 53-year-old was a long-time member of the medieval rock band – in May 2021 he left the group to go his own way.

The Märkische Oderzeitung first reported on Pfeiffer's death.

The police confirmed the incident, but did not want to comment on the identity of the deceased, citing data protection and consideration for the family.

She announced that a 53-year-old wanted to break through a police chain during the demonstration on Monday evening.

Officials stopped him accordingly and found his personal details.

After that he was able to continue on his way.

Shortly thereafter, the man collapsed on the way to his car, said a police spokeswoman.

He died a little later in the hospital.

No resistance to police

Police are investigating how the incident happened.

According to police, neither police officers nor other demonstrators were involved.

Police officers provided first aid, it said.

According to the spokeswoman, the note on the demo stated that the man could be stopped without resistance and that it was possible to take his personal details.

It wasn't until he moved away that he collapsed.

The band wrote on Facebook about Pfeiffer's death: "It is with dismay and regret that we learned of the death of our long-time companion Boris.

24 years together on stage was more than just a moment.« The thoughts of the band are with his family.

»We hope that you are doing well where you are now!«

The band In Extremo (»Sængerkrieg«, »sterneneisen«, »Quid Pro Quo«) started out in the 90s and is best known among fans of metal and the Middle Ages.

Pfeiffer played bagpipes, shawms and nyckelharpa.

In May 2021, differences with Pfeiffer became known.

The band announced that after more than 26 years of band history, they "unfortunately" had to announce that they would initially only be moving through the country with six members.

»Boris ›Yellow Pfeiffer‹ has decided to take a different path and will no longer be part of the band with immediate effect.

Circumstances, perspectives and priorities have changed over the many years of working together,” it said.
