Will we give up the snow-capped European peaks in China in the future?
According to data published these days on the Global Times website, ski tourism in China will bring with it during the winter of 2021-2022 a profit of 323.3 billion yuan ($ 50.7 billion).
The publication is based on a report by the China Academy of Tourism (CTA), according to which the number of people across the whole of China who will engage in sports related to snow this winter, will stand at over 300 million people.
According to the report, despite the Cubid-19 epidemic, the number of ski / snow sports tourists in China, which has increased thanks to the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, has grown to 254 million.
This is compared to 170 million people in 2017. The result is an amazing number of 300 million people who engage in this type of sport.
It was further noted that increasing these numbers is considered a national goal in China.

Most Chinese have already experienced winter sports
According to a survey published by the China Academy of Tourism, the Beijing Winter Olympics ignited a public interest in this type of tourism, with 90.1 percent of those surveyed having experienced it in the past.
Following the Corona plague, local residents have become increasingly present on the ski slopes and snow resorts in China.
From 2020 to 2021, per capita spending on ski and snow tourism in China reached 1,061 yuan (about $ 170), which is about 286 yuan ($ 45) more than that of China’s overall tourism industry in 2020.
According to the report, since In 2016, China completed 128 snow-related transportation projects, including train links to sites, highways and transportation centers, for a total investment of 2.47 trillion yuan (approximately $ 390 billion).
Han Yuanjun, a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Tourism, noted that snow sports tourism in China still has room for further significant growth.
He said that after the Winter Olympics, the country should promote duty-free purchases in this area, in order to improve the international attractiveness of winter sports in China.
