(ANSA) - NEW YORK, JANUARY 26 - "In the short term it will be appropriate to raise interest rates".
This was stated by the Fed at the end of the two-day meeting.
For now, leave the rates unchanged: the cost of money remains stationary between 0 and 0.25%.
"The economy and the labor market have strengthened," adds the Fed, noting that the risks to the outlook remain, including new variants of Covid.
Immediately following the release, Wall Street immediately accelerated.
The Dow Jones was up 1.16% to 34,695.32 points, the Nasdaq by 3.23% to 13,979.39 points while the S&P 500 posted a gain of 2.10% to 4,447.96 points.
