Two women from prison in Aichach, Swabia, have been sentenced again for a mashed potato fight and subsequent physical altercation.

The cellmates had fallen out in the women's correctional facility and then threw food at them - on that day last July there was mashed potatoes.

The press office of the court confirmed this to SPIEGEL.

According to the indictment, the argument began with a verbal battle.

As a result, food and a little later the women's plates flew through the room as projectiles.

The dispute continued to escalate violently.

Both women suffered injuries, a court spokesman confirmed.

The Augsburg district court sentenced the two 31 and 35-year-old defendants to fines on Wednesday for intentional bodily harm.

One defendant received a fine of 2,700 euros, which corresponds to 180 daily rates of 15 euros each.

The other prisoner has to pay a fine of 1,800 euros in 120 daily rates.
