No cause of death could be determined on site - according to the autopsy that was ordered afterwards, Boris Pfeiffer, long-time member of the band In Extremo, died of natural causes on the sidelines of a corona protest demo.
According to SPIEGEL information, the investigators are apparently assuming a heart attack as a result of heart muscle inflammation.
There are therefore no indications of third-party debt.
The band In Extremo (»Sængerkrieg«, »sterneneisen«, »Quid Pro Quo«) started in the 90s and is best known among fans of metal and medieval music.
Pfeiffer played bagpipes, shawms and nyckelharpa.
The 53-year-old left the band last May.
At the time, the group announced that after more than 26 years of band history, they "unfortunately" had to announce that they would initially be moving through the country with only six members.
»Boris ›Yellow Pfeiffer‹ has decided to take a different path and will no longer be part of the band with immediate effect.
Circumstances, perspectives and priorities have changed over the many years of working together,” it said.
Pfeiffer collapsed on the sidelines of a corona protest demo in Wandlitz, Brandenburg.
He died later in hospital.
Since then, rumors have been circulating on the internet about his cause of death.
According to the police, Pfeiffer was prevented from breaking through a police cordon before the collapse by so-called “simple physical violence” – i.e. standing in the way, stopping or pushing away.
In addition, his personal details were determined.
In the “assessment of all findings reported to the police headquarters so far”, no disproportionate force was used by the police.
