The Weeknd dethrones Justin Bieber with his album Dawn FM on Spotify

The Canadian singer has recorded more than 86 million plays on the streaming platform since the beginning of January.

He takes the top spot in the streaming platform's rankings for the month of January, ahead of fellow countryman Justin Bieber, as reported by the

With 86 million plays, Abel Tesfaye of his real name is well ahead of the 82 million plays of Justin Bieber.

The latter, however, retains the record for monthly listening since in December 2021, he had accumulated more than 90 million plays.

The Weeknd marked the beginning of the musical year with the release of his fifth album

Dawn FM

on January 6th.

The record topped the best-selling album charts in several countries.

In France, the album went straight to number three on the chart.

In the United States, it reached number two on the charts, only edged out by
