A higher statutory minimum wage has been in force since January 1st – also for mini-jobbers.
However, earnings in a mini-job may not exceed 450 euros per month.
A higher statutory minimum wage has been in effect since January 1, 2022.
And that also applies to mini-jobbers* - regardless of whether they are employed in the
commercial sector
or in the
private household
, as the consumer center of North Rhine-Westphalia informed on its website.
The statutory minimum wage rose from 9.60 euros to 9.82 euros per hour on January 1st.
On July 1, 2022, it is to be increased again by a further 63 cents to EUR 10.45 per hour.
Mini-jobs: Adjusting the number of hours as a result of higher minimum wages
In case of doubt, the
number of hours for a mini
-job must be reduced, according to the consumer advice center.
After all, marginal employment is still only allowed to earn a
maximum of 450 euros per month
.
"If the employment is to continue as a 450-euro mini-job, the working hours must therefore be recalculated from the turn of the year in order to remain under the earnings cap.
Otherwise, the employment relationship will be subject to social security contributions,” said their contribution from November with a view to the year 2022.

Will the earnings limit for mini-jobbers be raised soon?
What will apply in the future if the
minimum wage is raised to twelve euros on October 1, 2022 as planned
?
The new minimum wage law by Minister of Labor Hubertus Heil (SPD) does not contain
a higher earnings limit for mini-jobbers
, reports the FAZ (
faz.net
, as of January 25) on the draft law.
The coalition agreement between the SPD, Greens and FDP actually also provides for the earnings limit for mini-jobs to be linked to the minimum wage in the future, i.e. to raise it at the same time, as the report goes on to say.
However, there is nothing about the project, which was agreed upon at the insistence of the FDP, in the Labor Minister's draft law.
Dealers, innkeepers and cleaning companies would now react particularly irritated - i.e. those sectors in which
mini
-jobs played a major role.
At the request of the FAZ, the labor market policy spokesman for the FDP parliamentary group, Pascal Kober, made it clear: "We expect that the Minister of Labor will soon also present a draft law on mini-job earnings limits." The FDP will ensure that the higher minimum wage arrives at mini-jobbers.
It is "urgently necessary" to raise the limit to 520 euros and make it dynamic, as "actually agreed in the coalition agreement," warns Stefan Genth, General Manager of the German Retail Association (HDE), according to the report.

Registration at the Minijob-Zentrale
Employers now have to consider an innovation: since this year, the
tax ID of mini-jobbers
has had to be reported, as the mini-job center informed.
