Inflammation of the heart muscle can be the result of an infection or a vaccination.

You can read here how often the corona vaccination triggers and what signs are possible.

Many citizens are afraid of serious side effects after the corona vaccination.

However, the results of the approval studies and also the current safety reports from the Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI) as the Federal Institute for Vaccines and Biomedical Drugs show that the benefits of a corona vaccination far outweigh the risks.

A key argument in favor of the syringe: it protects against severe disease progression*.

Health authorities worldwide are therefore appealing for immunization with the approved vaccines

. In Germany, these are currently the products from Biontech, Moderna, Astrazeneca, Johnson & Johnson and the new protein vaccine Nuvaxovid from Novavax. "The Covid-19 vaccination is the safest way to build up protection against Covid-19," says the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the leading biomedical research institution of the German federal government.

But there are people who fear the side effects*.

As a rule, these are temporary and harmless symptoms such as pain at the injection site, a slight feeling of illness or harmless fever.

But serious side effects have also been reported since the beginning of the vaccination campaign.

"

Myocarditis and pericarditis are very rare side effects after the mRNA vaccines Comirnaty and Spikevax

", the PEI informs in the current Corona Safety Report.

Myocarditis is the medical term for inflammation of the heart muscle and pericarditis is inflammation of the sac around the heart.

But what exactly does “very rare side effect” mean?

Myocarditis patients respond "well to treatment and rest."

Since the start of the vaccination campaign at the end of 2020, more than 123 million vaccinations have been carried out by November 30, 2021, according to the RKI.

Since then, 1,554 suspected cases of myocarditis/pericarditis have been reported to the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut – all in connection with a Biontech or Moderna vaccination

.

"The published data show very consistently that the vast majority of patients with myocarditis/pericarditis after vaccination with mRNA vaccines respond well to treatment and rest and quickly feel better, even if more severe courses have been observed in individual cases," says it in the current PEI safety report.

A total of 15 deaths with myocarditis or pericarditis as the cause in temporal connection with the Covid 19 vaccination were reported to the Paul Ehrlich Institute. “In three cases, based on the autopsy report, the connection with the vaccination was assessed as possible.

In all other cases, based on the current data situation, the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut sees no causal connection with the respective vaccination

, since either alternative causes were considered more probable in the overall view of all findings or important clinical findings are pending," informs the current PEI security report. Background: Inflammation of the heart can have many causes, such as a delayed infection, taking certain medications such as antidepressants or autoimmune diseases*.

A third vaccination is advertised on a screen in Cologne with the inscription "All good things come in threes: get boosters now!"

Fear of life-threatening side effects after the corona vaccination is statistically unfounded.

cardiologist dr.

Susanne Berrisch-Rahmel explains in the

interview

which symptoms can indicate heart muscle inflammation:

  • prolonged fatigue*

  • Significant drop in performance during sport or physical work

  • higher heart rate

  • shortness of breath

According to Berrisch-Rahmel, anyone who notices the above symptoms should see a doctor.

"

If you can no longer carry out your usual training as before, you have to pay attention,

" says the heart expert.

According to the PEI, chest pain, palpitations and cardiac arrhythmia can also indicate myocarditis.
