Oscar winner Nicolas Cage ("Leaving Las Vegas") keeps an unusual pet: In an interview with the "Los Angeles Times" he raves about his crow named "Hoogan".
"Crows are very intelligent," said the 58-year-old.
The animal got used to insulting him.
'It's funny, at least for me.
When I leave the room he says 'Bye' - and then 'A—'," the actor was quoted as saying.
The crow lives in a dome in Cage's Las Vegas home.
Nicolas Cage was particularly taken with the appearance of the crow: »I like the goth element.
I'm a goth.« In addition to the crow, Cage also has other pets: the cats Merlin and Teegra.
Cage's "goth" statement fits his current project: Just last November, Universal announced that the actor would once again be Dracula in the planned Hollywood film "Renfield".
In 1989 he had already played the notorious bloodsucker in the horror comedy »Vampire's Kiss«.
German pensioner had to give up her crow
In Germany, the actor would probably have problems because of the crow: the animals belong to the corvid family – and are considered wild animals in this country, not pets.
This is shown by the case of a pensioner from Bad Segeberg in 2020: she had to give up her crow in her apartment after 17 years because the attitude had violated the Animal Welfare Act.
