If the wave of Omicron begins to begin to decline, hospital pressure remains strong in France.

This Sunday, Public Health France counts a total of 33,027 Covid-19 patients treated in hospital, as well as 129 new deaths.

In total, more than 132,000 people have died from Covid-19 in France since the start of the epidemic.

Hospitalizations are down from Saturday, when there were 32,988 hospitalized patients.

They were 31,536 seven days ago.

In critical care units, reserved for the most seriously affected patients, 3,577 people are hospitalized, against 3,606 on Saturday, and 3,641 last Sunday.

Some 155,439 cases of contamination have been reported in the past 24 hours, compared to 214,542 cases on Saturday and 249,448 seven days ago.

An indicator much lower than the day before to put into perspective, a big catch-up having been made last Friday.

The number of positive cases identified each day in Île-de-France falls to 30,000, down 34% in one week.

In France as a whole, 267,000 positive cases are recorded every day and this number is down 23% in one week.

The decreasing incidence on the territory

On the vaccination side, the Directorate General of Health indicates that 54,089,022 people have received at least one injection, or 80.2% of the total population, since the start of the campaign.

52,904,436 people now have a complete vaccination schedule, i.e. 78.5% of the total population.

36,575,686 people received a booster dose.

The incidence rate fell back below 3,000 per 100,000 inhabitants last night, a figure that has been falling for five days, including in New Aquitaine, the last region to have reached its peak of contamination.

The circulation of the Covid-19 epidemic is slowing down (-8%) on national territory but remains high, especially among the elderly, the public health agency France warned on Friday, inviting not to relax the measures of braking.

After three and a half months of outbreak, the pandemic began to decline this week in the world.

With 3.03 million contaminations recorded each day, the indicator is falling for the first time (-10% compared to the previous week) after fifteen weeks of increase, according to an AFP report stopped on Thursday.
