Following the success of the series Cosby was seen as a pioneer and a symbol of the African American community, as one who encouraged many blacks to fight poverty and discrimination, choose academic studies and improve their social status.

But all of that shattered to pieces in 2014 following a string of allegations made against Cosby that he sexually assaulted women.

Dozens of women claimed he used to drug them and rape them.

After a lengthy legal process, he was sent to jail in 2018 and ran a three-year prison sentence, until he was unexpectedly released in June 2021 after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned his conviction.

The court ruled that the proceedings against him were improper.

The series includes interviews with victims of Cosby, colleagues and experts, who are trying to put order in this affair that shocked the African American community.

The series is signed by comedian and activist Wu.

Camau Bell, who combines political and social statement in his stand-up shows.

He has also hosted for five seasons the CNN series "United Shades of America" which has won three Emmy Awards.

In an online panel held after the series' premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, Bell said: "Without naming names, there are many celebrities who all think they are good people, but the truth is we only say that because of the image they have. We really have no clue about them, and that Something we deal with in Cosby's story. I do not think it concerns only the black community, but people in general. We want to believe in what is being sold to us. I think we need to start understanding that there is a difference between people who do good work and good people. "More complex for us, in the black community, because we did not have many powerful figures like him, who was a huge celebrity."

According to Bell, Cosby's early release from prison in June caught them at the editing stage.

"It's a challenge to address in four hours the 50-year careers and complaints of more than 60 women. We have been following closely what is happening with Cosby, but we were not ready for his release. "What they are experiencing today. I hope a question that we had to edit them out of the series - will somehow come up online later."

Cosby responded to the series through his spokesman, who said it was "amateur public relations work."

"Mr. Cosby vehemently denies all the allegations against him," the spokesman said, "he is aware of the reality of injustice in the American legal system."

In so doing, he addressed the defense's contention that Cosby was persecuted and convicted in a public trial for no wrongdoing on his part.
