A 1987 commercial for McDonald's Sunday ice cream (YOUTUBE)

Earlier this week, McDonald's Israel issued a painful - even heartbreaking - announcement that it was removing its popular Sunday ice cream from the menu.

She has not even given us enough time to say goodbye, as what is considered one of the flagship dishes of the fast food chain will no longer be marketed starting tomorrow (Wednesday).

The network published the following post on social networks: "Thank you dear Sunday, we will remember you. 8.2.22 Last date to enjoy Sunday after 28 and a half years in Israel.

The reason for the surprising move is in the hashtag: the chain's decision to stop using plastic in its branches, since unlike "explosion ice cream" and this one in a cup (known as "NIS 90") - Sunday ice cream is served in a plastic cup.

The post posted on Facebook received almost a thousand comments.

"Tell me are you normal ?? No problem, bye bye to plastic, I'm very supportive, but why exaggerate ??"

One article in the comments and another grumbled: "On the face with you."

Another consumer complained: "You are terrible" and another called: "I am going out to demonstrate. Who is with me?".

McDonald's Israel told us that "we are parting ways with Sunday Ice Cream as part of the chain's move to remove plastic from its restaurants. There will be more products that we will unveil very soon - this is due to the chain's trend in Israel and around the world to move away from plastic containers.

Anyone who reads between the lines will understand that this may be a marketing move and very soon we will get to see the familiar Sunday ice cream in a paper cup, just as the chain has done in the past with explosion ice cream.

Yet,

The recipe is simple, including only 4 ingredients and less than 5 minutes of preparation.

Make a note of yourself:

Say hello to Sunday ice cream (Photo: Screenshot, mcdonalds.co.il)

Ingredients:

2 cups chocolate chips

1 teaspoon butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

345 ml steamed milk / unsweetened condensed milk (since it can hardly be obtained in the country, you can use plain milk or cream for cooking 15% fat. Those who want to invest and make milk Steamed, the process is simple: boil 2.5 cups of plain 3% milk and cook it on low heat for about an hour until it is significantly reduced and only one cup is obtained).

How to prepare:

1. Put a pot over medium heat and pour in the milk, sugar and chocolate chips that you prepared ahead of time.

Stir repeatedly until boiling.

After boiling, turn off the heat and set the pot aside.

2. Add the butter and vanilla extract to the mixture and mix well.

Let the mixture cool for about 30 minutes and add it to the vanilla ice cream you bought / made.

enjoy your meal!
