Banco Bpm's profit jumped to 569 million, half to shareholders

(ANSA) - MILAN, 08 FEB - Banco Bpm closed the 2021 financial year with a profit of 569 million euros, up sharply compared to 21 million in 2020 and 10% higher than the guidance offered to the market.

Shareholders, according to a note, will be offered a coupon of 19 cents per share, equal to a dividend of 287.9 ​​million euros, with a pay-out of 50%, higher than the objectives of the strategic plan, and an undividend yield of the 6.8%.

The 'net profit on an' adjusted 'basis more than doubled to 710 million, from 330 in 2020, and represents the best result since the inception of the group.


    "In the course of 2021, despite the difficult macroeconomic framework still impacted by the Covid-19 health crisis, the Group's commercial and organizational effort made it possible to record significant performances that led to results above pre-pandemic levels and allowed to maintain full confidence in the achievement of the targets set out in the strategic plan ", explains Banco Bpm.


    In 2021, operating income grew to 4,511 million (+ 8.6% on 2020), the operating result of 15.9% to 1,995 million while the ratio between costs and revenues fell from 58.5 to 55.8%.

Loan adjustments amounted to 887 million euros, down from 1.34 billion in 2020.


    As regards impaired loans, overall npls fell from 8.6 to 6.4 billion (-25.7%), with a drop in the gross NPE ratio from 7.5% to 5.6%.

This indicator will fall to 4.8% in 2022 thanks to an additional credit derisking activity for 1 billion euro.

The capital position is confirmed as "very solid", with a fully phased Cet1 at 13.4%.


    From a commercial point of view, net performing loans (represented by mortgages, loans, current accounts and personal loans) increased by 1.1% to 99.5 billion, Core direct deposits also increased, +5.1 % to 105 billion, and managed, up 9.6% to 65.3 billion.
