In his struggle with Spotify, Neil Young does not let up.
On his website, the singer-songwriter has now asked the employees of the streaming service to quit their jobs.
In addition, customers should withdraw their money from major banks to protest against climate change.
»In our communication age, misinformation is the problem.
Drop the disinformers,” Young said in the statement.
In it, Young primarily criticized the managing director of the streaming platform, Daniel Ek.
This is the main problem, not US podcaster Joe Rogan, who caused a controversy with his views on the corona virus.
Ek pull the strings.
He is only interested in numbers, not in art or creativity.
Addressing the company's employees, Young added, "Get out of this place before it eats your soul." He urged other musicians to find a new place for their music.
Young also wanted people to withdraw their money from big banks like Citigroup Inc. or Bank of America to protest fossil fuel financing.
"Join me as I siphon my money off the damage-causers, or you'll be an unwitting part of it," he wrote.
“You have the power to change the world.
We can do this together.
Your grandchildren will thank you.«
The controversy surrounding Joe Rogan's podcast on Spotify was initially about misinformation about the corona virus, then allegations of racism were added.
Because the criticism of the US podcaster did not stop, Spotify boss Ek wrote a letter to his employees.
In it, he condemned Rogan's use of the N-word and other derogatory comments toward black people.
However, he stands by his decision to keep the podcaster on the platform because he wants to promote all types of creative people.
Ek also confirmed that Rogan has decided to remove several previous episodes of the podcast from Spotify.
Young and Joni Mitchell had previously left Spotify because they accused the streaming platform of tolerating misinformation about the corona virus and thereby endangering human lives.
US singer India Arie and Crosby, Stills & Nash also joined the boycott and removed their music from Spotify.
