RATP: call for a strike on February 18 to demand a salary increase

2022-02-08T14:58:22.420Z

All of the RATP's trade unions are calling for a day of mobilization in the Paris region to demand an upgrade.

The date is set.

All of the RATP's trade unions are calling for a one-day strike, Friday February 18, to demand a substantial salary increase in view of the economic context and inflation.

"The management's proposal during the hearings for the mandatory annual negotiations (NAO) is one provocation too many", justify the CGT, FO, Unsa, Solidaires and La Base in a joint press release published on Tuesday.

While the general management of the RATP has proposed an increase of 0.4% “to be sprinkled in various social measures” according to the press release, the trade unions do not find it up to it.

“The profits generated by the RATP since 2015 exceed one billion euros.

Those of 2021 will be around 200 million euros ”, note the organizations gathered Tuesday in inter-union.

The CGT demands 3% annual revaluation

The day of strike is scheduled for February 18, the first day of the mandatory annual negotiations on wage increases.

The General Confederation of Labor (CGT), the group's leading union, is asking in particular for a 3% annual increase over the next three years to catch up with the wage freeze of the past ten years.

"We are in an election year, there are speeches on the need to increase salaries, but the management of the RATP is turning a deaf ear", underlines Bertrand Hammache, general secretary of the CGT-RATP.

"The minimum wage has been increased by 0.9%, so 0.4 is provocation", explains his counterpart from the National Union of Autonomous Trade Unions (Unsa), Arole Lamasse, who is also asking for 3% of minimum increase to offset inflation.

In January, inflation rose again in France to 2.9% over one year after remaining stable at 2.8% in December, driven in particular by energy prices.
