Saudi Arabia has drawn consequences from the death of a five-year-old in a well shaft in Morocco: The authorities in the desert state have had 2,450 well shafts that are no longer used secured or filled in, and more are to follow.
This was announced by the Ministry of Agriculture.
The government of Saudi Arabia asked the population to report dangerous and uncovered wells.
The fate of five-year-old Rayan had sparked sympathy throughout Morocco and far beyond in the past few days.
The boy had fallen into a dry well 32 meters deep.
After several days of rescue work, the child could only be recovered dead.
