In Italy, the popular song remains a very practiced art, heritage of the Neapolitan song: not a party without men and women pushing the song.
Since 1951, the city of San Remo has hosted an annual competition of songs sung by Italian artists, young hopefuls or old glories, under the gaze of a professional jury and the general public.
Over the years, the festival has become the most followed Italian cultural event, on Rai 1.

The 2022 vintage which has just ended, stamped the "San Remo of the Renaissance" after a 2021 edition without an audience, proved exceptional by its audience for five days: the first four, it brought together each time more than 11 million viewers (i.e. 3 million more than in 2021), giving Rai 1 a 58.4% audience share.
And on Saturday, no less than 13.4 million Italians gathered in front of their post, many of them with friends, to watch the final.
