For the first time: local authorities will be required to include a veteran artist in cultural events - as a condition for receiving an annual budget • Minister Trooper: "This is a way to thank them"

An important message for veteran artists:

For the first time, the authorities around the country will be required to include a performance by a veteran artist as part of cultural performances, as a condition for receiving their annual budget.

As part of this move, led by Culture and Sports Minister Hili Trooper, in the new support test written for the budget of cultural events authorities, authorities will be required to perform at least one veteran artist to get their annual budget for various cultural activities.

The Ministry of Culture and Sports is currently approving the new test of support for an urban culture basket aimed at promoting cultural activities throughout the country through local authorities.

The test focuses on increasing and making accessible the cultural offerings, increasing exposure to art and culture in the social and geographical periphery, and encouraging cultural events and initiatives in the field of culture and the arts.

In the new tests, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, headed by Minister Hili Trooper, added a requirement that the authority's cultural events include at least one veteran artist as a condition for receiving a full budget for the authority.

If not, the authority's budget will be significantly deducted in this test.

The Ministry of Culture and Minister Trooper see the new test as a way to support veteran artists who do not always receive the recognition they deserve, and over the years have been less invited to perform in authorities.

"A good company is a company that respects its veteran artists," Trooper said, adding: "There are many veteran and talented artists in Israel who have left their mark on Israeli culture, and this is our opportunity to both enjoy their work and express appreciation for them.

"Precisely after another wave of Corona and further damage to culture in general and veteran artists in particular, we insist on their place in shows in local authorities, this is also a way to say thank you to them."
