(ANSA) - GENEVA, 09 FEB - The World Health Organization (WHO) today urged rich countries to urgently provide the 16 billion dollars that are still missing to finance its anti Covid plan.
"Science has given us the tools" to fight the pandemic, "if shared globally in solidarity, we can end Covid-19 as a global health emergency this year," the WHO Director-General said in a statement. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
"If high-income countries pay their fair share" of ACT-A funding, this program "can help low- and middle-income countries overcome low Covid vaccination rates -19, the insufficiency of tests and the shortage of drugs ", stressed the WHO number one, recalling that the rapid diffusion of the Omicron variant in the world makes the equitable distribution of tests, treatments and vaccines even more urgent.
