(ANSA) - ROME, 10 FEB - "I wrote Murder on the Nile after a winter spent in Egypt. Rereading it now it is like sevenissi again catapulted onto the steamer that went from Aswan to Wadi Halfa. It is a book with numerous characters and a very elaborate story . I really think it's one of my best 'travel abroad' novels and if the cops are 'escapist literature' the reader will be able to escape to sunny skies and blue waters as well as to crime, while remaining confined to an armchair. ": the formidable Agatha Christie wrote it in 1937. And just as 'escape' is expected this cinematic adaptation of Kenneth Branagh, after Assassination on the Orient Express, hit in cinema in 2017. Produced by Fox, with Ridley Scott among the others, arrives in theaters with Disney from February 10 with over 500 copies.

Fans of the thrillers of the prolific queen of mystery, 66 novels and over 150 short stories, will not be disappointed and will find what has always been the author's signature: the emotional chaos, the love obsessions, the enveloping plot, the many possibilities in the unfolding of the facts, the twists are assured in the staging by Kenneth Branagh (seven Oscar nomination with the new film Belfast).

The Irish director also stars in the role of Belgian detective Hercule Poirot.

As in the Orient Express, Branagh has rounded up another caststellar of murder suspects, this time reached not on a train but on the luxury steamer Karnak which travels along the Nile.

Scripted by Michael Green, the film like the novel (Mondadori) focuses on the honeymoon of billionaire Linnet Ridgeway (a sublime Gal Gadot) and her new husband, the charming penniless Simon Doyle (Armie Hammer, accused of sexual violence, after production), who had previously been engaged to Jacqueline de Bellefort (EmmaMackey), a friend of Linnet's who cannot accept the separation from Simon.

Period costumes, the music of Patrick Doyle, a mass staged in grand style, the power of Agatha Christie's thrillers: Murder on the Nile could be one of those films that convince the adult audience to return to see the cinema in the hall.
