Forbes Ranking: Peter Jackson is the highest paid entertainer in the world

Peter Jackson: Successful, not only as a director

At the end of 2021 he was still making headlines with his Beatles documentary "Get Back".

Now Forbes magazine has named director Peter Jackson the world's richest entertainer.

Accordingly, he earned a total of 580 million dollars (equivalent to around 508 million euros) last year.

According to "Forbes", however, he did not receive the highest income as a director of blockbusters such as the "Lord of the Rings" series - but with the sale of shares in his company Weta Digital, a company for visual effects.

Musicians Bob Dylan, Paul Simon and Bruce Springsteen also made it into the top ten, all three through the sale of music rights.

According to estimates, Springsteen alone received around 500 million dollars for his music rights.

This put him in second place on the Forbes list.

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone came in sixth with $210 million.

They had signed a six-year deal with Paramount+ to produce several films.

Musicians Kanye West, Jay-Z and actor Dwayne Johnson also made the top ten, with films, music sales and endorsement deals.

The top ten highest paid entertainers are all men.

Only three women made it into the top 20. Reese Witherspoon was the highest-earning woman last year, ranking twelfth.

According to Forbes, she earned $115 million from her production company Hello Sunshine.

She is estimated to have received $20 million for her role on Apple's The Morning Show.
