(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 12 - Thousands of protesters gathered in front of the Australian parliament building in Canberra to protest against the requirement of vaccines and other anti-Covid measures.
The Guardian reports it.
According to the police, around 10,000 people took part in the march.
Three were arrested, including a truck driver who did not stop at a roadblock, two others were stopped.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison said he understood the concern of the protesters but called for "protest in a peaceful and respectful way".
"Australia is a free country and they have a direct right to demonstrate," was Morrison's message, which he stressed that the vaccine requirement in some Australian states is not a central government decision.
