A 22-year-old Danish woman has apparently been the victim of a violent crime.
Forensic examinations confirmed that the body found in a forest near Aalborg was the woman she was looking for, the North Jutland police said.
The relatives have been informed.
Body parts were found in the Dronninglund Storskov forest on Thursday.
At that point, the investigators suspected that the remains of the young woman were involved.
She has now been definitively identified by forensic medicine.
22-year-old Mia Skadhauge Stevn was out and about in the pub and nightclub district of Aalborg last Sunday morning.
Footage from surveillance cameras showed her getting into a dark-colored vehicle on her way home.
Since then there has been no trace of her.
According to local media, investigators managed to find out the license plate number of the vehicle and the owner.
Shortly thereafter, two 36-year-old men were arrested on suspicion of murder.
Both protested their innocence.
One of the men was released despite continued suspicion.
The other is still in custody.
The case sparked outrage in Denmark and a debate about the safety of women in public spaces.
The investigations continue.
The police said they are currently concentrating on creating movement profiles of the suspects.
