IKEA table suddenly explodes - "got a huge shock"
Luckily nobody was in the room, because it could have ended badly: A few days ago, a glass table from IKEA just exploded.
The customer who owns the table has apparently experienced something like this for the first time and so she asked on Facebook if something like this had happened before.
More precisely, her post says: "Last night around 10:00 p.m. our Ikea table just exploded."
Ikea recently drew attention to possible plastic particles in this product.
"Explosion" at an IKEA customer: Just got off lightly again
In addition, the customer posts a picture on which the table frame can still be seen.
Around the outside there are many small pieces of broken glass scattered in all directions.
"There was no one in the room so no one was injured," writes the customer.
Nevertheless, her post continues: "We got a huge fright because we sit there every evening."
IKEA takes position on exploded glass table
The company promptly responded to the customer's contribution and explained how such an "explosion" can occur: "IKEA mainly uses toughened safety glass, ESG for short, for its glass elements.
In individual cases, a microcrack can be caused in the glass, e.g.
B. by a shock or impact which is not visible to the naked eye and as a result the glass either breaks immediately or it breaks with the slightest impact which would not normally cause damage.
The Swedish furniture store also explains that this can still happen weeks after the bump or hit.
This is also an explanation why products made of hardened glass can shatter surprisingly and seemingly without reason in individual cases.
Finally, they offer the customer to forward their request to their customer service.
