A video showing a snake in the cabin of a Malaysian airline AirAsia has gone viral on social media, especially in light of the fact that the pilots of the plane were forced to make an emergency landing due to the incident.
The airline said the flight, which departed from the capital Kuala Lumpur to the city of Tawau in Malaysia, was diverted towards the city of Kuching while the snake was spotted on the plane.
In the video, taken by one of the passengers on his cellphone camera, the snake is seen crawling inside a light fixture found in the ceiling of the plane.
Despite the snake's unexpected appearance, the flight attendant who announced the flight's departure seems to be calm about the matter, which took place last Thursday.

"At no point was there a risk"
Air Asia security officer Captain Leung Tian Ling said the airline was "aware of the incident on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Tau on Thursday".
He added that "as soon as the captain was aware of the matter, he made the decision to divert the plane to Cushing, as a precaution, and with the aim of disinfecting the plane."
He added that "this is a very rare incident that can occur on any aircraft from time to time. The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew are always our top priority. At no point has the safety of our passengers or crew been at any risk."
The Airlive website reports that at this stage it is not known whether the reptile accidentally arrived on the plane or belonged to one of the passengers.
The airline said its customers continued to their original destination on another flight.
