And again problems with passengers on an American Airlines flight, an airline that also flew between the US and Israel. This time it was on flight 1775 between Los Angeles and Washington DC yesterday (Sunday) afternoon, US time.

Passengers and flight attendants were forced to subdue a recalcitrant passenger who allegedly tried to open the plane door and enter the cockpit.

"He tried but he was unable to get there," a source at the airline told passengers when asked about the passenger trying to enter the cockpit, "and then he tried to open the plane door."

The flight was diverted to Kansas City shortly after 2 p.m.

Moaz Mustafa, one of the passengers on the plane, said everything was calm until the flight attendant suddenly shouted at her colleague to turn on all the lights in the cabin, and the plane started to lower very quickly.

"There was a man who went into the cockpit and opened the cockpit door, and he tried to open the plane door as well, apparently after failing to open the cockpit door," Mustafa told Fox News Digital.

"Honestly, today I thought I was going to die"

"While people were trying to subdue him, that flight attendant ran all the way to the back kitchen of the plane, grabbed a pot of coffee and went back to the passenger and started hitting the guy with the pitcher in the head," Mustafa added.

"We are grateful to our crew members, who are consistently committed to the safety and care of our passengers and have handled the circumstances with maximum skill and professionalism," a U.S. Airlines spokesman said in a statement to Fox News.

The FBI and other law enforcement agencies were waiting for the wayward passenger when the plane landed in Kansas City.

All other passengers were forced to get off the plane while the FBI completed a security check.

The plane crashed in just seven or eight minutes, Mustafa said.

"Honestly, today I thought I was going to die," he said.
