(ANSA) - STRASBOURG, 14 FEB - "The introduction of money was a milestone in the history of the EU, because sharing a currency is more than using the same payment measure but being part of a common commitment".
ECB President Christine Lagarde said this to the European Parliament for the 20-year anniversary of the euro.
"The euro has simplified the life of many Europeans, for those who study, for those who travel, for those who do business; from 1990 to 2002 the exchange between the countries of the euro area at 19 was 5%, but if we consider the period from when the euro has arrived, the growth is 200% ", he stressed.
