The income tax assistance association provides answers.
According to the current status, the costs for masks cannot normally be claimed for tax purposes, according to information from the United Income Tax Aid.
The magazine Wirtschaftswoche also informs that taxpayers are usually left with spending on protective masks and quick tests

Such expenses would be considered a purely preventive health measure, which the tax authorities consider to be part of the general cost of living.
These are covered by the basic tax allowance, according to Wirtschaftswoche.
The basic allowance in 2020 is a total of 9,408 euros.
If the taxable income falls below this amount, no tax has to be paid.
